Questions and Answers

Q. Will you ever section hike it again?
A. No.  The next time I get an opportunity to hike the PCT, I plan for it to be a thru-hike.

Q. How hard was water to get along the sections you did?
A. Attaining water was simply unreliable, at best.  Water sources change rapidly in the desert.  What was flowing two weeks ago may be sand when you arrive.  You simply could not rely on the water reports, at least for my sections.  I.e. I had heard rumors about Barrel Springs being a mere trickle.  Wild Bill informed me it was knee deep and flowing hard.  I just made sure I was fully stocked at all times.  Albeit heavy, it was better than the alternative.

A note: I want to personally thank all the trail angels for the caches along the way!

Q. What were the temperatures like while you were there?
A. Night time lows were at upper 30s while the daytime highs were around low 100s.

Q. Did you get home sick while on your journey?
A. No.  I missed my children, but I had everything in order, unlike last year.

Q. What sections were blocked by the fire near Idyllwild?
A. All the info that you need about trail conditions are found here.
