Johnathan's 3rd Birthday |
|
It was my little man's 3rd birthday. Nature seemed to know this as the flue hit him the night before his party. As my family started to arrive, I reluctantly awoke him from his nap He was not at all in a good mood about it.
With more people showing up, he took turns sitting in people's laps while daddy prepared the various cake, snacks and what not.
People arrived in a staggered timeframe, so we decided to dig into the cake. The ceremonial candle was blown out which seemed to spark a fire in Johnathan. He slowly came to life at the reality of the event.
Within an hour of waking up, he was nearly himself. With cake on the floor, cake on his face, and cake in his hair, he was virtually complete.
Once his life-long friend Jocelyn arrived, he decided to play Scooby and run around the house chasing her. They played inside and out while I took a badly needed break from daddyhood to mingle with the grown-ups.
The two came back before Johnathan opened presents. Thomas the Train was the highpoint of his day, overshadowing daddy's two-wheeled gift.
With the gifts opened and the cake partially devoured, it was time for the goodbyes.
Afterwards, Johnathan started to warm up his new bike. Of course, over protecting daddy thought the training would have to wait until he felt a little better. I would like to thank Maria, Bette, Keriann, Mom, Leslie, and Jocelyn for making Johnathan's birthday party all it was!
